Boxer, philanthropist and social activist Allie Hock was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. Allie became a Golden Gloves champion in 1959, and became an Olympic gold medalist the following year. Allie won all of her bouts in the 1960s, the majority of them by knockout. Since her retirement, Allie has devoted much of her time to philanthropy.

The Case of the Torched Turf was produced by the Michigan State University Capstone Fiction Film Program.

Allie was given a writing position and quickly wrote herself onto as many pages as possible.

The film was released in April, 2012.
